CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Chattanooga polls are closed and results are already coming in.
In a landslide final, the mayoral vote was called and Andy Berke was voted the new mayor of Chattanooga.
Berke is a former State Senator and beat two other candidates, Guy Satterfield and R. Chester Heathington Jr.? Mayor Ron Littlefield did not run for reelection.
First elected to the State Senate in 2007, Berke says he will "... continue to focus on the critical issues that affect the quality of life in Chattanooga ? public safety, education, and economic development. We must recognize our common issues and come together to make a positive change for our city."
Berke will be on Eyewitness News at 6:30 a.m.
In District 1, Chip Henderson beat out three other candidates with more than half the vote.
"You're obviously responsible for a whole lot more people," Henderson says. "A lot more constituents are going to be involved in this. Like I say, it's the next level."
In District 2, Jerry Mitchell won against two other candidates with 55 percent of the vote.
In District 3, Incumbent Pam Ladd lost to Ken Smith. Smith received 59 percent of the vote.
"I want to see a complete audit of the departments, the services, everything that's being provided by the city and a clear definition of what the true needs are of the city to be responsible to the taxpayers," says Smith.
District 4 will have an April 9?runoff between incumbent Jack Benson and Larry Grohn. The two were separated by 53 votes. A?candidate must receive 50 percent, plus one vote?to win.
Incumbent candidates for District 5 and 6, Russell Gilbert Sr. and Carol Berz, ran unopposed.
In District 7, Chris Anderson defeated?two-term incumbent?Manny Rico with 56 percent of the vote.
In District 8, Moses Freeman beat one-term incumbent Andrae McGary with 61 percent of the vote.
"I've always been involved in this community," Freeman says. "I love this community. I think all of that through the years paid off."
In District 9, results project a run off between Yusuf Hakeem and incumbent Peter B. Murphy. The candidates were separated by only six votes, and there were seven write-in votes, giving Hakeem 49.98% of the vote, falling short of the needed 50 percent.? When provisional votes are checked on Wednesday, an additional one-vote advantage would give Hakeem the victory.? However, if current results stand, Hakeem and Murphy would face off again in an April 9 runoff.
In addition, residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of the charter amendment.
